“We’re happy to say that Sivan celebrated her first birthday this year, defying the odds!”
Katherine was only a few months pregnant when doctors told her and her husband, Doron, that their precious unborn daughter had less than a five percent chance of living to see her first birthday. From that moment on, their family counted on every bit of strength, hope, and love possible from one another to defy those odds. Little did they know, they would find a special place of respite where they could be together in the hospital, just steps away from their baby, Sivan, just as they would be at home.
When Sivan was born at Sunrise Hospital with Trisomy 18, a rare chromosomal syndrome, she was kept in the neonatal intensive care unit for many months in hopes of going home to her family.
We’re happy to say that Sivan celebrated her first birthday this year, defying the odds!
